Make Your Direct Marketing Preferences Known

Four times a year (Jan/April/July/Oct) the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) updates its consumer lists. It is these lists that the DMA sells to direct mail marketers, agencies and telemarketing companies. You can remove yourself from those lists for five years simply by sending a written request to:

    Direct Marketing Association
    Attn: Mail Preference Services
    PO Box 9008
    Farmingdale, NY 11735-9008

* Your opt out letter must include your name, mailing address and signature.

       Slow The Telelphone Telemarketing Calls

The Do Not Call Registry is managed and enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, commonly known as the FTC. The "Do Not Call List" offers consumers the opportunity to dramatically reduce the volume of telemarketing calls they receive.

How do I register? By calling the registry's toll-free phone number at 1-888-382-1222 or visiting the registry's website at www.donotcall.gov

What telephone numbers can I register? You can register a mobile phone, your home telephone, but not a business number.

I'm registered, but now what do I do? Nothing. As of January 1, 2005 telemarketers were given 31 days from the date you register to stop calling you. Normally, it takes only one day from request for your name to begin appearing on the Do Not Call Registry.

How do I file a complaint if calls do not stop? You can visit the website or call 1-888-382-1222. You must be able to provide either the name or phone number of the company that called you. You must also provide the date of the call, along with your phone number.

For more more details about the FTC's Do Not Call Registry site.

Tell Them No & Reduce The Junk Mail

Do you ever feel like the only thing that you receive in your mailbox are credit card offers? There is a way to reduce that unwelcome invasion, and that's by adding your name to the "Opt-Out" lists for prescreened/preapproved insurance and credit offers.

Call 1-888-5-OPTOUT that is (1-888-567-8688) or visit the Internet website
www.optoutprescreen.com to process your request today.
